For a researcher like me, optimizing the transfer of information through data visualization is (or should be) a continuous challenge. In the quest for innovative ways of displaying data, I stumbled on one that I found very effective.

This webpage asks you to draw how you think a certain variable evolved (or will evolve) over time. By comparing the actual result (or projection) with your expectation, you might feel from the clueless surprise (“Really?!”) to the most proud satisfaction  (“I knew it!”).

I think the potential value added of such a visualization lies in the ability to create emotions out of what would be otherwise just mere numbers and lines, with benefits in terms of attention, understanding and memory.
